My Service for a better community

As a husband, father of 5, and community member, I am devoted to improving our community. My service includes:

Coaching the City Champions Little League team

Providing haircuts for underserved community members

Collecting and distributing blankets to the underserved on cold nights

Serving at my church, Holy Spirit, where I particularly enjoy officiating marriages

Why I am Running

I am a lifelong resident of Savannah, and I am passionate about ensuring a prosperous future for this city, not only for my children and grandchildren but for yours too. I believe in listening to the people of this district and understanding their challenges. I am committed to fighting for the rights of all District 2 residents, supporting activities that uplift our children, elderly, and underserved populations. I am not interested in making noise but in making a difference. I ask for your vote, and I assure you that I will always put the interests of the people at heart.

My Platform

  • District 2, the heart of Savannah, hosts 27,000 residents and attracts at least 35,000 visitors daily. Our vibrant district is a significant revenue source for our city, primarily due to our robust hospitality infrastructure. I am dedicated to ensuring that District 2 continues to thrive, and I wake up each day fully committed to fulfilling the responsibilities of this role. Remember, you are always my number one concern.

  • My contributions to the City Council are varied, ranging from studying projects for city development to voting on city contracts and reviewing matters regarding business licensing, zoning, police, and fire. I have a perfect attendance record at council meetings and have invested significant personal time in multiple city projects. My efforts span various areas, such as:

    Reducing Crime

    Improving Transportation

    Addressing Parking Issues

Attending out-of-town education seminars to learn how other cities manage a residential city that also serves as a tourism and entertainment hub.

  • Addressing crime is a personal mission for me. I have access to real-time data from 'Shots Fired' to monitor our neighborhoods, and I am dedicated to supporting and upgrading our Police Force. My work includes interacting with programs and officers who engage with our youth, bolstering our successful second chance programs, and ensuring the presence of a clergy member in every precinct to help de-escalate family disputes and incidents involving mentally ill individuals.

On a positive note, crime rates are decreasing in our city. We are currently on par with the national average for crime rates in the USA, but we are not settling for 'good enough'. We have added two more Assistant Chiefs and 2 Female Chiefs, and we have increased the starting salary for officers to $50,000, the highest in the region. We are actively recruiting and training new officers.

  • Implementing the DOT to run through District 2 was crucial for me. This provides free transportation for our residents, allowing them to reach various district destinations conveniently. It also helps connect job seekers with opportunities throughout the city, mitigating one of the significant complaints from our local businesses - the inability to find workers.

  • There is an exciting influx of job opportunities on the horizon with the Infrastructure Bill and other new industries, such as the car plant set to hire 10,000 workers. We must continue to work towards providing a living wage for all, starting with $15 an hour.

  • As someone who works daily in the operating theater of Memorial Hospital, I am uniquely positioned to monitor the health of our city and evaluate potential health risks in every proposed project.

  • Parking continues to be a significant concern for our residents. My work in this area involves extensive research, attending special meetings, and visiting other cities with successful parking strategies. Changes are coming, and in the meantime, I remain dedicated to protecting residential parking.
